Professor Capet, As others have pointed out by now, the correct answer is
20th out of 130. I did in my Churchill Soldier research have two careful
reviews of the original documents at Sandhurst and concluded that Randolph
Churchill got it right both as to the number of cadets in Churchill's intake
and his ranking according to the number of final marks. May I add that I am
gratified to learn that at least three people purchased the soldier book.

Russell does attempt to clarify this issue on page 68 and 69 of his
