Terrorist Commander surrenders; 23 terrorists killed: ISPR

ISLAMABAD: A terrorist Commander has surrendered before the security forces 
which have killed 23 more terrorists in various areas of Malakand and Dir, a 
news release of ISPR here Wednesday said. 

Giving details about the last 24 hours on the Operation Rah-e-Raast, the news 
release said that two soldiers embraced shahdat while 12 others including two 
officers were wounded. The terrorist commander who surrendered before the 
troops in Bisham area was identified as Wali Ullah. 

As far the latest situation of Frontier Regin of Bannu is concerned, Jani Khel 
is the staging area of all militants operating in D.I Khan, Bannu, Kohat and 
Peshawar. Reportedly 600-800 terrorists reached Jani Khel from Miran Shah and 
Razmak and were learnt to have been planning to strike at different places in 
NWFP. 

The security forces, following the reports of accumulation of terrorists 
engaged suspected locations at Jani Khel with heavy fire. The clearance 
operation in the area Zaidi Akbar Khan was continuing till filing of the 
report. 

A search operation was conducted by the security forces in Batkhela, where an 
exchange of fire took place with the terrorists in result of which one 
terrorist was killed. Security forces also recovered cache of arms, ammunition, 
explosive and communication equipment, from the operation area. 

Security forces under took a search operation to secure area from Kabbal Camp 
to Kabbal village. Terrorists fired a rocket at Kabbal Camp, due to which one 
soldier embraced shahadat and 11 others were injured including two officers. 

The terrorists fire raided at Bariam Bridge near Matta, Resultantly one soldier 
embraced shahadat. Security forces were also fire raided by terrorists at 
Banmani Sar, which was effectively responded killing six terrorists. 

The Shalkosar top and Shalkosar Kandao in Peochar valley were  successfully 
secured by the troops after fierce fire fight between the security forces and 
terrorists. In result of it, 16 terrorists were killed in South East of 
Shalkosar top. 

The Local Lashkar

The Local lashkar in move to tight noose against terrorists, has moved further 
close to terrorists at Shatkas and Ghzigae villages, in Dir where intense 
exchange of fire is taking place. 

According to reports, 50 terrorists from Dir-Kohistan side came to support 
terrorists at Shatkas, who were effectively engaged by the Lashkar and checked 
their entry to join their accomplices. Consequently the intruding terrorists 
ran away following they failed to reach their fellow terrorist positions. 

The terrorists demolished two Government High Schools each at Sherjanay, 
Sangolay village and Chinar Kot in Maidan area. They also demolished a bridge 
near village Kalpani at Lal Qila, Maidan. Security forces secured Gat Khela and 
Jowar area in Buner. 

The relief activities in the caps area of IDPs was continuing. A batch of 31 
paramedics including 8 specialist doctors moved to Mingora by Helicopter. Four 
trucks of ration and non food items were distributed among the stranded people 
of Swat valley at Mingora
