Illuminations on the eve of X'Mas
WHILE Christian community across the country is busy in arrangements to
celebrate the X'Mas in a befitting manner, our Christian brothers and sisters
in the Capital organised a major function with lit up of a Christmas Tree and
illuminations participated by people from different walks of life.

Holding of such functions on the eve of X'Mas is a good and encouraging
development and we expect that people in other parts of the country would also
join their countrymen belonging to the non-Muslim community in their
celebrations. The event in Islamabad indicates that there is now a general
keenness to integrate the Pakistani nation. In our view it is in line with the
teachings of Islam and vision of Quaid-e-Azam that members of the minority
communities are given equal rights so that they feel part of the society and
the nation. Otherwise too Pakistani people are large hearted and feel
comfortable with non-Muslims as well. Unfortunately there had been some
incidents in the past in Southern Punjab and FATA that led to loss of life and
property of the minorities yet the Government took immediate steps and those
involved in such condemnable acts were apprehended while the affected people
were duly compensated. Our Constitution gives equal rights and opportunities to
the minorities who are peace loving, patriotic and contributing a lot for the
country in all spheres of life. We expect that the on the occasion of X'Mas,
our Christian brothers and sisters would be joined by people in large number to
add more colour to the celebrations that would give them a sense of pride and
satisfaction, help integrate them in the society and at the same time enhance
the image of the country in the comity of nations.
