Heiress's millions go to the dogs PAUL THOMPSON June 19, 2010 MIAMI: An heiress has left her $US8.3 million ($9.6 million) Miami Beach home and a $US3 million trust fund to her three dogs. Gail Posner, the daughter of Victor Posner, a millionaire businessman, died aged 67 in March, but her three dogs continue to have full-time staff, wear $US15,000 Cartier necklaces and enjoy weekly spa treatments. But her son, Bret Carr, a filmmaker, says his mother was brainwashed into leaving her money to Conchita, a chihuahua, and two other dogs called April Maria and Lucia, by her household staff, who were left at least $US26 million in her 2008 will. Mr Carr inherited $US1 million. In a lawsuit filed in Miami, he says his mother should have left him the entire estate. Mr Carr says Ms Posner's housekeeper and other personal aides drugged her with pain medication before getting her to change the will in favour of the dogs. Ms Posner's housekeeper, Elizabeth Beckford, was told she would get $US5 million if she cared for the three dogs at the heiress's home. Her daughter, an assistant housekeeper, received $US1 million. Hernado Quintero, Ms Posner's bodyguard, received $US10 million, Orion Sewell, a second bodyguard, got $US5 million. But in court papers, Mr Carr says his mother was ''deeply disturbed'' and encouraged by her staff to buy jewellery for her pets. He alleged they coerced her into leaving a huge inheritance to the dogs, which they would control. Mr Carr's lawyer, Bruce Katzen, said: ''Gail had a serious drug problem. She had cancer . and was easily influenced.'' Telegraph, London
