Thanks for your patient comments.
1. Tried all the settings you indicated - and some variations too. No
joy. It's out of sync - not by a lot - but by varying amounts, different
each time.
2. Tried Background Rendering. No better - but no worse either.
Processor use increases overall by 20% to 30%
Issues which are difficult are (and always have been from Heron to Lynx
in Ubuntu for me):-
3. Load a second clip to Resources and the thumbnail shows the image of
the first clip loaded.
Sound for second clip plays OK but with broken hashed image in
Compositor window.
4. If I restart Cinelerra fresh (not 'Load Backup') and load up the
'second clip' the thumbnail is now black and no image comes to the
timeline. Sound is OK.
5. Error message window keeps coming up. Can't find a way to stop it.
Often I cannot stop the timeline with space bar - or at all, without
closing Cinelerra.
6.If I restart the computer I can start all over.
7. One difference I notice with the Phenom x6 is that clips load to the
timeline more quickly.
I begin to wonder whether this is about Ubuntu. This is the first time I
have complied from source (Thank you Raffaella - perfect) but it is no
different to that packaged within Ubuntu - from hardy Heron to Lucid
Lynx - over a couple of years.
I have the impression that many users are on SUSE or FEDORA because, as
I read through the archives a bit, I don't seem to see the problems I am
having. You guys are all editing and quoting advanced issues. Mine are
basic functionality issues. Sorry Edouard, I just can't get it to work!
Who on Ubuntu Lynx 10.04 is editing .MOV files straight from the camera?
I have been a DOP in Film and TV all my life - I understand lip sync.
I've just edited my first 45 second film on (dare I mention it) Premiere
Pro CS4 - with ease, because in two years I've never suceeded in getting
Cinelerra to work; and that is NOT an insult to Cinelerra.
You guys seem to make Cinelerra sing. I can't, but I'd love to.
