Thanks Michal. It turns out that the error is due to a change in gcc (4.5) that ships with Ubuntu, see here:

This issue is in the source of Cinelerra, and I think the patch should be applied to the main tree (previous testing, of course). Even with the patch, I still have errors in compilation of Cinelerra under Oneiric.
