I hate to get involved in this but I have seen some responses that were
not well thought out. I worked with a guy who had much experience here in
the DC/Metro area with routing and switching in a large government agency.
He moved out to the Denver area and the best offer he could get was $29k
with HP. He returned to the DC/Metro area to get $100k+. "I agree anyone
making less than 60k in this field is underpaid no matter where you live"
is not accurate at all. The market you live in will determine what you get
paid. Some areas have a small IT market with many people around with certs
and experience that will dictate lower pay. You make $60k in some areas and
you are rich. Go to NY city and you will be living in the streets. $27k
maybe good money in you area. All I can say is to look around and see if
you can make more.
