Jay,
Why do you want the CCNA certification? Are you working or going to be
working in the networking arena? If not, my suggestion is don't take the
test because it will just be another piece of paper hanging on your wall and
i think that's what most of us would rather not see happen. Or maybe it's
too late for that...
On the other hand, if you're serious about becoming involved in networking,
take the 2.0. You'll find the basics are not that different. I recommend
Todd Lammle's CCNA book from Sybex. ISBN: 0782123813.
Understand the osi model well...

Hi guys,
Listen, I'm just getting started in all this. I'd like to know in detail
what are some of the things that I need to concentrate on as far as
obtaining my CCNA. I want to go ahead and take the CCNA 1.0 since I already
have some of the course material. I have a pretty good grasp of basic
networking, but I still would like to know if the July 31 deadline is a
feasable time to take this exam. If some of you could please share your
thoughts on what to look out for on the test, excellent study materials,
etc. that would be greatly appreciated.
