I had the same problem with mine when I bought it. I had to get a new
version of the IOS in order to make it change.
Right now I have
c1005-ny-mz.110-22
in it, and that runs s0 as a synch interface
What shipped with it was
c1005-qy-mz.111-8.2
and that had s0 as an asynch interface.
I don't know what the n stands for in the ios, the y is plain ip, and I
think the q means asych.
Take a look at your ios version and see if that helps.
