Looks like he has two FastEthernet interfaces. If so, he can do Etherchannel
to a switch. He can always remove the ATM Port Adapter and install one with
different interfaces. PAs are still pricey. Others can comment - but I think
the posip card uses an entire VIP2-50. He might be able to remove the posip
interface and add other Port Adapters. Could be missing the center rail on
that VIP. Shouldn't be much of an issue - just use screws to attach the
PA(s).
Many of the CX series cards made for the 7000 series work in 7500s. There is
a table somewhere that shows which rev numbers are required to be 7500
compatible. Buy an eight port CX-FSIP (Fast Serial) and he has a honking
core router or frame switch. Prices on eBay can be quite reasonable for
older cards. He can buy Token Ring and FDDI (among others) should he wish to
experiment.
