when doing unnumbered interfaces
   routing via loopbacks. Virtual templates, dialer interfaces etc...
   I use loopbacks for many testing reasons.
   load balancing and redundancy via BGP
   use as peer in DLSW for redundancy/stability
   generate routes

   Those are a couple I can think of off the top of me noodle
