Home Depot has a pretty extensive nation-wide network if I'm not mistaken. You could always talk to a HR rep to get re-placed with your current employer. Or, if you just don't like HD, you could always leave off the CCNP. Frankly, a CCNA is ridiculously easy to get, so I don't even count it as a valid certification. Or, to put it another way, I would expect that ANYONE that would get hired into a "network engineer" type position would absolutely positively have a CCNA or equivalent experience, and I wouldn't personally recommend anyone who didn't have a CCNP or equivalent experience.
There are plenty of people out there that are in the exact opposite position. I've been working in the networking field over 10 years installing networks in hospitals throughout the country. I only got my CCNA this Spring because we needed to for our partner level, and now have to get my VPN Specialist, Firewall Specialist, IDS Specialist, Network Management Specialist, CCNP, CCSP, and CCIE certifications. Not like I don't have better things to do... [7:73672] Hello everybody! My name is Rob Wideman and I am a product of the Cisco Networking Academy as presented by Davenport University in Midland Michigan. I passed my CCNA and CCNP tests while working for a national big box retail store. Unfortunately, I am still working for Home Depot while looking for work in our field of choice. ( I am also A+ and Network+, thought I'd backfill a little to help get a position). My problem is that with very little actual OTJ experience, I have found that I am almost unhireable because I am overqualified and yet underqualified as well. Any suggestions? I love the theoretical problems that are occasionally posted. **Please support GroupStudy by purchasing from the GroupStudy Store: http://shop.groupstudy.com FAQ, list archives, and subscription info: http://www.groupstudy.com/list/cisco.html Message Posted at: http://www.groupstudy.com/form/read.php?f=7&i=73677&t=73672 -------------------------------------------------- **Please support GroupStudy by purchasing from the GroupStudy Store: http://shop.groupstudy.com FAQ, list archives, and subscription info: http://www.groupstudy.com/list/cisco.html
