What Prep book? TCP/IP on every machine I've ever used defaults to Ethernet
Version 2, which Cisco calls arpa.

AppleTalk uses IEEE 802.3 with 802.2 and SNAP.

Windows networking, if it doesn't run on top of IP, runs on top of NetBEUI
which uses 802.3 and 802.2 I think.

Novell has four options:

Ethernet Version 2, which Novell calls ETHERNET_II
IEEE 802.3 raw
IEEE 802.3 with IEEE 802.2
SNAP

Novell used to default to 802.3 raw. I don't know if it still does, though.
Maybe by now they have finally changed it.

But, isn't everyone using TCP/IP these days anyway?? &;-)
