Or got fired by installing cisco products and have no faith in cisco any more...-:)

Actually getting once is good enough because one can't stay on top of every technical aspect of networking for too long. You have to branch off doing different things and keep your expertise in few areas. Plus cisco is very careful in decertifying  their CCIEs and keep their numbers low.
