Steve,
I thought the Todd Lammle book for the CCNA was very good, but the rest of
the texts on the CCNP and CCDP tracks were very weak. I would not recommend
them to anyone. They seemed like regurgitated information that took up a lot
of paper. I would highly recommend using Cisco Press and backing that up
with the McGraw-Hill NetCertify series. I have tried them all and this was
the combination that worked for me.
The Exam Cram series is for refresh of key points before an exam. Do not
solely depend on them to pass an exam. I read all the books and passed the
exams in 6 hours. Just kidding! Seriously though, the Cisco Press was my
initial study tool and the McGraw-Hill was used to round out/flesh out the
concepts described in the Cisco Press.
Some of the points and examples were very close in the Cisco Press and the
1.0 exams. They is an invaluable tool for that reason alone.
This is only my opinion and I am sure there are people who would disagree
with me. We all want the certifications, but don't short change yourself by
only studying the Exam Cram series. You really want to understand and know
how the gear works, not just pass some exam.

Subject: CCNP Todd Lammle Books???
I am confused on which books to buy for my CCNP. I see the Exam Notes books
by Todd Lammle and then there are the full, lengthy books by Todd Lammle.
Which are better for learning the material? Do the Exam Notes books give
just what you need to pass the tests??
Steve
