I have a client that has a 2948G and it does have the same CLI as the 5000,
as I worked with it on Wed. It's not like the 2900XL series. Used one's on
ebay are pushing $3k.

Can't attest to the same CLI as the 5000 but the 2948G doesn't do ATM, but
it does have Gigabit ethernet.
The lowest series switch that can (do ATM) is the 2828 with ATM 155.
For the 2900 series, the 2912MF XL (12 fiber ports) and the 2924m XL (24
10/100 ports) have 2 modular slots that can accommodate ATM at OC-3.
