There
is an article in Businessweek 9/11/00 that talks about Juniper "The Upstart
That's Eating Cisco's Lunch". The gist is: Juniper's market share
has risen from 17% to 22% as of the end of June. At the same time, Cisco's
market share in the core router market has dropped from 80% to 75%. They
talk a bit about "how" Juniper has done it, their strategies, and their
technologies.
If
Juniper keeps executing and Cisco doesn't do something about it, that market
share could go lower for Cisco. That's market share
just for ultra-high-speed routers by the way...because that's all that
Juniper makes.
