Similar problem, the Layer 2 adresses have to be the same as well, or it
will not respond until the Arp-Cache timer expires.
Sounds like you need a Hardware cluster. 2 machines that appear as one
Virtual machine, have two redundant Network connections... These typically
use a Single storage subsytem, with redundancy built into it as well.
Assuming this isn't a hypothetical situation, when you get to this level of
redundancy, you need to consider physical location. I.e. You should
consider whether ot not to set all this up in a earthquake-prone flood zone
that might be hit with a tidal wave and was voted "Most Likely to be
destroyed in a Nuclear attack" by a major media publication.
