For your purposes, music cases probably are the best alternative.

The cases that training partners use meet International Air Transport 
Association (IATA) criteria.  If you are looking for a high-quality 
case that is shipped routinely, that is your major air freight 
standard.  Typically, we had to refurbish the 3/4" plywood cases 
every year, while the aluminum ones lasted a bit longer.  Of course, 
these were being shipped every week.

I did see an Army Special Operations Command case that was qualified 
to airdrop a 4000 router, along with some crypto gear.  Ummm...that's 
airdrop WITH a parachute.
