The questions are trickier and more detailed than the CCNP. The test also
covers all areas of the CCNP in a single seating.
I studied and sat the test last week. I finally decided to sit the test and
spend the $200 to get a feel for it. I expected a retake in the very near
future, but I passed!
Read Doyle's TCP/IP bible and make sure you know your IBM network
technologies.
After sitting the exam it was clear as a bell. This exam is not there to
test the obscure areas of Cisco networking, it is to make sure you have some
foundation necessary for ATTEMPTING the lab. The exam is not for weeding out
candidates. The lab is what Cisco uses to weed out the candidates.
The written exam is really to control the number of people attempting the
lab. I have to wait six months for an opening! I'm glad because I really
need the time for preparation.
Don't let the written exam scare you, it is more bark than bite. The lab
should be a different story.

Did you buy any books to study for the CCIE written aside from what you
studied for the CCNP, or did u just use the boson exams? I recently
finished the CCNP, and I plan on doing the CID this friday I'f I'm lucky.
I wanted to know if I need to get other books or if my current knowledge
with the boson will be enough. Thanx.
