Prefix = Subnet mask , I was very confused of this until recently. Most books will go back and forth on the terms. Classful: RIP1 and IGRP: Will not pass subnet mask in routing updates. So you cannot use this with Summarization or VLSM. It restricts to classful addresses. This means Class A, B, or C. Classless: OSPF, EIGRP, IS-IS, Supports VLSM. CIDR aka Supernetting. You can adjust the subnet mask so not to restrict you to classul addresses. VLSM: Variable Lenth Subnet Mask, I think of this as subnetting in a subnet. Get the Exam Cram book. It will give you an overview of the BSCN material. This book helped me pretty good. _________________________________ FAQ, list archives, and subscription info: http://www.groupstudy.com/list/cisco.html Report misconduct and Nondisclosure violations to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
