Dyland,
                It would be nice if OSPF used the  highest address of
interfaces configured as part
of the OSPF process. However OSPF uses the highest IP address on the
device(as a whole).

I guess again from a operational standpoint this would make it easier to
trouble-shoot knowing that
a specific router could only have on RID in the OSPF LS database with
information to routes within
the network.  A go way to eliminate loops if they were to exist....
