It is not the range  -
that is reversed subnet mask
Example masks:
try with 255.128.0.0 mask will become 0.127.255.255
or 255.255.255.252 will become 0.0.0.3

So in your case the original mask of 255.255.252.0 thas changed to reverse
of 0.0.3.255
