Few guys @ work went for the CCIE written, with no CCNP cert.  They lived
:-)  To be honest- I've always looked @ it as a personal decision.  Take the
CCIE written if you are more inclined.  I disagree- the CCIE written is well
accepted & received by employers.  I mean- if you had to guess where would a
CCIE written was headed with their career, UP should cover it (employers
look for that ya-know).  I don't have the stick-to'd-ness that it takes to
cover all the topics & jump to the written.  I like the design of the 4 CCNP
exams & how the routing exam (ACRC or Routing 2.0) sort of drops you @ the
foot of the door of the CCIE written.

If you can do it- do it...
