No it doesn't!
It says that a person with 3 - 5 years experience and their CCNP is making
on average
73k a year... I would say that this is pretty accurate, if not a little
low!
These survey's are good to let people know if they are being taken advantage
of at their
current job!
Most people who are patient, hard working, and knowledgable will make what
they
deserve if they push for it!
A lot depends on the type of company you work for, and how willing you are
to change
companies or at least push your current company into giving you higher
compensation.
A lot of people get 'confortable' at a job and don't want to make the
switch...
In many cases, they are forced to live with the yearly 3% - 5% increase.
Depending on experience, and new certification, this might not be
appropriate
or acceptable. There is a reason why the turnover rate in the IT field is
less than
a year... It's because with each year of experience, people's worth
increases a lot
faster than inflation!
Company policy of small incremental increases just does not cut it in this
field...
In fact, it doesn't cut it in most fields anymore :)
So, these salary surveys are great for a person who has been working at the
same place for
4 years, who started at 35k a year and recently acquired his/her CCNA or
CCNP.
After 4 years, that person is probably making 45k a year.
If they would've switched jobs a few times in those years, they would be
making close to 75k!!!
I know plenty of people who this happened to, and promised myself that it
would never happen to me :-)
Good luck!!!

What a joke. According to their chart an 18 year old kid right out of high
school who lives in Detriot could spend 81 hours of studying and then land
themselves a job paying $73K per year.
