I believe the primary metric for IPX RIP is delay, expressed in ticks, with
hop count as the tie breaker.

So, if you had two routes available, one with a delay of 20 ticks and the
other with 30, then the route with the lowest delay would be installed into
the routing table.

If both routes had a delay of 30 ticks, the one with the fewest hops would
be installed.

If both routes have identical metrics then both can be installed in the
table and per-packet load balancing will take place, if I remember
correctly.

I don't remember how many equal-cost IPX RIP routes can be in the routing
table, but you can manually configure it to accept up to six.
