Isn't it funny that I make a typo while trying to type the word "typo"?

I think you have the right idea but made a type. If you create a new
subinterface and use 'encaps isl 1' then the switchport to the
PC(10.1.1.10) would also need to be in VLAN 1, not VLAN 10.

Alternately, you could leave 10.1.1.0/24 in VLAN 10. On the switch, do
a shutdown on int VLAN1 and create interface VLAN10. Assign it the ip
address 10.1.1.1/24. Then use the 'management' interface command to
make that the active switch management interface. I believe that will
also cause interface VLAN1 to shutdown in case you didn't do it
already.

IIRC, management traffic between the switch and router will still use
VLAN1. Since you are changing the management VLAN on the switch, I'm
not sure if that will break VTP or not. If so, there's probably a
router interface command to change the management vlan to VLAN 10.

Good luck!

John

Hi John,
How do I specify on what vlan interface should the switch ip be? I
assumed
that it was vlan1 by default. But looks like I understand the problem
now.
The switch by default is in vlan1 and I have specified vlan10 as
10.1.1.1
which is the default-gateway for the switch. Obviously, this is not
going to
work. Looks like I have to define a new subif (f0/0.1), encap isl 1,
ip
addr
10.1.1.1, shut, no shut and then make the pc(10.1.1.10)part of vlan
10.
I
think this would do it, right?
Please advise.
Thank you.
Kind regards,
