hi,

there is a very basic terminal program included in solaris
called 'tip'. You have to add a line to /etc/remote to use 
it comfortably. I added this line to /etc/remote:

serial2:dv=/dev/cua/b:br#9600

that means i use serial B with 9600 bps

to start tip i use then 'tip serial2'

to quit tip type '~.'

to send the BREAK signal use '~#'

for more details see 'man tip'
