You were attempting to have a warranty honored under the original purchaser
agreement, which is 120 days by default. Since you were not the original
person to receive the product (unopened box), Cisco's response makes sense.
SmartNet does not cover delivery damage, just failed internals. To initiate
a SmartNet contract, find the type & serial # of the desired coverage on the
CCO. Go to www.Shopper.com, to find the cheapest price advertised by
various resellers. Provide them with the serial # of your device & they
will follow-up with your new contract #.
That's all it takes...
