Isn't X.25 included in the lab test because it's still widely used in places
like Brazil and also in satellite communications (with a variation on the
mod value)?  This is what I've heard, is this correct?

I do wonder about X.25.  There's an old Army saying that you never 
need a pistol until you need one very, very much.  I still believe 
X.25 can be an extremely useful niche protocol.
