Hi Jason,

The show version says 4.0.7

Apparently I have 8 meg of RAM from the bootup sequence:

How do I find out the amount of flash: show memory?

Pierre-Alex

Give us a show version from the box. Most likely you can get it up to
5.1(2) without an upgrade. I think to get to 5.2+ on a 520 you'll need a
16mb flash upgrade (the old 520s only ship with 2mb of flash). Buy a
SmartNet on it and you can download the 5.1(2) code (or any code that comes
out so long as you have the SmartNet). You can also register for a free
IPSEC DES activation code to use with 5.x code.

A number of things have changed from 4.x code to 5.x, mainly ACLs instead of
conduit permits (which you can still do, but it's advised against and the
"old way" of doing it). It's still a great place to start learning, but
just be aware that they're somewhat different on how things work (probably
not a bad idea to have a background on the older 4.x stuff).
