(I figure you are talking about OSPF multipoint network type and not just
frame sub-interface since you said something about area 0)

Multipoint networks require less configuration and more efficient use of
address space, and when you add new spokes to your network you won't have to
worry about virtual interface software limitations on the hub Multipoint
networks less overhead for hellos since they'll happen less on a Multipoint
network, and since you aren't using a distance vector protocol you don't
have to worry about split horizon on the multipoint network so the real
question is why use the point-to-point?
If you just use the Multipoint network type on everthing you will make your
life alot easier, no mismatches anywhere.
Multipoint networks work the same as point-to-point in all other ways-
Muticasts, establishes adjacencies to all neighbors (no DR/BDR)
I haven't seen alot of people make a big deal of it though. The newest wierd
thing I've seen is the OSPF network type - point-to-multipoint non-broadcast
See if you can figure out the application for this network type?
