This is not true, as I finished by CCNP without benefit of a router.  I did
purchase a 2901 to study with, but ended up using it more for LAN parties
than studying.

If you study the material and understand the concepts, most of othe CCNP
exams have a "choose the correct command from the list", so understanding
the concepts is more important (IMHO) than remembering the actual commands
(to pass the exams).
