It's the senator from my state (Sen. Wyden from Oregon) calling for the volunteer geek force to help in emergencies. He calls it the National Emergency Technology Guard. I think it's a good idea. My only question is whether he's over-reacting a bit. I didn't get the impression that communications was so terribly poor during the aftermath of the attacks. But I wasn't there either.
Anyway, I'm going to look into it. I'll let you all know what I find out.
