If it were me, I'd go for the Sup3 w/ Route Switch Feature Card if you could afford it. It will help you considerably if you haven't worked on a switch doing MLS before.
I have a 5009 myself, and am so frustrated at the limitations. Creating vlans, and routing between them is just 1/3 of the objectives for the Switching exam, much less the CCIE Prep. MLS is a good chunk of advanced switching, and you simply can't do it without the SupIII and an RSFC or NFFC.
