You might want to disable CEF-caching if you suspect you are having CEF problems. CEF used to be (and sometimes still is) rather buggy.
That thing about how disabling CEF-caching also disables fast-switch caching is a bug, I think. I have noticed that behavior myself sometimes, but I don't think that it is what Cisco intended to happen.
