Is this a LAB setup or a live setup ? If its a live setup the ISP is prolly blocking the RFC 1918 addresses (aka, 192.168.x.x, 10.x.x.x , 172.16.x.x) So you will need to enable NAT (network address translation).
Leave default routes in place, u can live without RIP though unless of course this router connects to other routers within ur network.
