Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP) uses two pair (four wires) on pins 1&2 and 3&6 of an RJ-45 plug. Whether it runs as full or half duplex is determined by the connected equipment - NIC card, Hub, Switch, router, etc. If Ethernet is running over coax cable then it is limited to half duplex.
