I did the CID beta over a year ago, so I don't know how closely it
compares to the current exam. I did the CID course six years ago, and it
obviously covered rather different topics then. But I quite liked the CID
exam, and the DCN. Yes, they are very different to the standard Cisco
CCNP track exams. Yes, the CID in particular had some pretty daft
questions (incorrect data given, poor wording etc), but it was a beta,
after all.
Most of the gripes about the CID and DCN seem to be because the answers
aren't cut and dried. Guess what - neither are the answers in real life!
For me, in most cases the 'best' answer was pretty obvious if you actually
considered the given objectives, although in part, you have to know the
'Cisco' answer, or the 'Cisco way of doing things'.
I do better in exams where the answer can be worked out, and worse in
exams where the answer has to be remembered. I get the impression that
most people are the reverse - just different learning styles (and a lousy
memory on my part ;-)
The CID and DCN were, in my opinion, closer to 'real world' situations.
Partial requirements, irrelevant detail, and the like are a fact of life
in design work. At least all the requirements were given in the exams -
you just had to interpret them. Although I doubt you get partial marks
for the 'nearly right' answers in the exam!
I'm going on leave for a while now, so have a nice few weeks...

I hated the CID test. Of all the tests I took it was the only one where
I was sweating it while it was grading the exam. I honestly thought I
might have failed but it turns out I passed with a pretty low score.
CID is definitely the worst-written exam of the Cisco exams that I've
taken.
Good luck on your next attempt!

Wow! I just took (& failed) my CID exam. Talk about different...
The tone and the flavor of the exam is very different from the rest of
the
exams in the CCDP track. Over the last ten days I have managed to pass
a
whole bunch of exams (640-507, 640-441, 640-503, 640-504 and 640-505)
but
640-025 kicked my butt.
My biggest gripe is what appears to be the SUBJECTIVE nature of the
questions! Of the four or five answers presented, usually two or
three
could be correct, but the exam asks for "the best answer". Well, that
depends on who is answering it. Often I felt like I was trying to
answer a
scenario question without the benefit of having read the scenario!!!
Was it only me?!! Your thoughts and input are appreciated.
-Serge.
