Buy some tr nics and put them on a pc, and a cheap tr hub. I am pretty sure
you can pick up a cabletron with a console cable pretty cheap on ebay.
Short a cable and have it connected and it will probably send a beacon
through the network. Mismatch the speeds and see what happens. Maybe, hard
code the same LAA to two nic and see if you can generate frame copy errors
by using a third pc. Maybe, you can send tons of packets to the hub and
generate congestion errors. Taking a pc off the ring should cause burst and
maybe token errors. If you had some TR routers around you could connect to
the hubs as well. The show controllers tokenring xx command will display tr
errors as well.

Not sure if you can have duplicate tokens because there is only one full
token allowed on the ring at the same time even with early token release
enabled.

You'll probably need a protocol analyzer to capture the frames. You will be
able to see the active monitor and the standby monitor packets and you'll be
able to see the election process too. And you'll be able to see how the bit
is flipped in a tr frame. Not sure what software though for TR. Sniffer
would work and if you have an OS2 workstation, Navtel would work.

Do you know tool(s) that can generate Bad Token ring frames, duplicate
tokens, etc... ?

I would like to check my Token Ring troubleshooting skills.

thank you!
