We've been using IOS SLB on our 6509s for about a month now and it works great.... Because we were using an authentication method, we wanted someone to be directed to the same web server they originally connected to after even a few hours of idle time, so we had to tweak our idle timer (set it for 6 hours). But it's been working like a champ for us.....
