Hi, I am replacing my 3524 XL switches with the 3550's. Can I use the 3550 EMI strikly as a L2 device or so I need to purchase the 3550 SMI. What I would like to do is purchase the 3550 EMI now to replace our Layer 2 CAT 3524 XL. When we are ready to use the Layer 3 technology, it will already be available to me.
