I'm about half way through the Cisco Press book on QoS. So far, I wouldn't recommend it. The author is apparently a long-time Cisco TAC employee. He writes the book as if we all had access to the same level of detail that he does where internal router architecture is concerned. He also apparently assumes we all have advanced software development degrees. Maybe there was pressure to publish quickly. At only 275 pages (and $55!), you would think there should have been plenty of space to stop and smell the roses now and again.
Wish I had a good alternative to offer. Let us know if you find one.
