Hey Maximus :-)

>From my understanding of what I have been reading, classification is the
process of 'selecting / identifying' the packets that you would/could then
use to mark for QoS Purposes. You 'define' the packets on which you would
like to perform some kind of congestion management / avoidance / etc. action

Packets are classified by their source address, destination address, source
port, dest port, ACLs, etc.

I take Packet Marking to be the function of acting on classified packets by
modifying the TOS, DSCP, etc field to suit your QoS requirements.

That's what I think ... And I hope I'm right

Subject: "Classification" vs. "Marking" [7:56792]

Hey Proximo -

I'm sitting here looking over the outline of the DQOS test, and one of the
bullets says to "Explain the difference between classification and marking."

I'm looking over the QoS Config Guide, and can't seem to find any clear
distinction between the two - the Guide seems to be using the terms
interchangeably. Anyone have any insight into this?

Thanks,

Maximus
