I use Nagios for network monitoring and Cacti for trending. I agree
completely with the notion of keeping everything in a database, and that is
where Cacti really shines as a front-end to RRDTool. I am working on a way
to do the same thing with PHP and MySQL for the Nagios configurations. If
anyone knows of an existing solution for this, please let me know.
