I don't know whether anyone replied yet, but according to the software
configuration guide on the Cisco documentation CD,

you can use "ip default-gateway", like on the 2900:
Switch(config)#interface vlan 1

Switch(config-if)#ip address 172.16.10.2 255.255.255.0

Switch(config-if)#no shutdown

Switch(config-if)#exit

Switch(config)#ip default-gateway 172.16.10.254
