the United States was not born out of democracy, it was born out of a
room filled with 50-something rich guys

I think there are a few countries where the rich guys´ interest are not
very much in conflict with the interest of the demos.
But, your are right, not yet the United States.

For the citizendium project to be open-minded, some distinctions can be
made:
1 to gather interesting articles without the burden of censorship,
power-discussions and involvement
of advertising my initial proposal of letting the editors store their
articles on a web-site, is the only way to go.
People can add their 2c, and their vote. The gathering-machine exists of
links to these sides.

You can try to solve problems, or avoid them.

2 in this manner, it will soon be clear that articles with many
positive votes are written as if the editor
looks back in time. Marie Curie stated (concerning patenting the process):

"It would be impossible, it would be against the scientific spirit....
Physicists should always publish their researches completely.
If our discovery has a commercial future, that is a circumstance from
which we should not profit.
If radium is to be used in the treatment of disease, it is impossible
for us to take advantage of that."

So decide for or against this spirit.

3 For the citizendium project, to be open-minded, obvious (scientific)
realities should not be ignored. This includes the cover-theme of the
next Time magazine.
