All, I would like to call your attention to http://tinyurl.com/th82s (on the CZ Forums) where I have made a proposal, and laid out technical requirements, for a greatly liberalized sign-up process. The change would allow people to come to the wiki, simply create a username, check a few boxes, confirm the e-mail address, and get to work. We would not require a bio in advance, but would deactivate accounts if a person continued to edit without creating a bio. Poorly-formed account names would be immediately deactivated.
This is one of the things we'll be announcing in a few weeks. We (the constables and personnel administrators who have been getting people on board the pilot project wiki) are all in favor of the change. It will save us a lot of work and we feel we can actually have less work with not much less security. "Soft security" as it is called works. The process for becoming an editor would remain much the same, however; i.e., it would require an e-mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] as stated on http://www.citizendium.org/cfa.html. Comments very welcome there. This is a change I do want us to make, and short of "howls of protest," we will. --Larry _______________________________________________ Citizendium-l mailing list [email protected] https://lists.purdue.edu/mailman/listinfo/citizendium-l
