I'll recommend you using truetype font with pdflatex, so that there's
no need to use freetype1. Yes, pdflatex now supports truetype font
quite well. You just supply some encoding and map files which looks
like this:

unisong00 <unisong00.enc <simsun.ttf
unisong01 <unisong01.enc <simsun.ttf
unisong02 <unisong02.enc <simsun.ttf
unisong03 <unisong03.enc <simsun.ttf
unisong04 <unisong04.enc <simsun.ttf

Q: What's the contour integral around Western Europe?
A: Zero, because all the Poles are in Eastern Europe!

Addendum: Actually, there ARE some Poles in Western Europe, but they
        are removable!

Q: An English mathematician (I forgot who) was asked by his
very religious colleague: Do you believe in one God?
A: Yes, up to isomorphism!

Q: What is a compact city?
A: It's a city that can be guarded by finitely many near-sighted
        policemen!
