I'm not aware of a function where you can actually switch off Type1 font display (only for PS graphics). Are you sure that you actually installed Type1 fonts correctly and also recompiled your TeX file? If you recompiled it, but xdvi can't find the Type1 fonts, then it will create a "missfonts.log" file. > BTW, I just can't find anywhere to search the mailing list archieve. Is that > true? Indeed.
